Cutter comp in post

Is there a way inside of a milling post to change the output for the CDC?

 

Instead of T01 having G41 D01, can the post be modified to output G41 D31?

Do that in your Machine Definition.

 

From MD go to Control Def., Tool. In the Tool offset registers check the Add to tool box, put "0" in the length and "30" in the diameter.

If you need your cutter comps always +30 you can go into your control def >> tool >> add to tool >> and set the dia comp to 30

Guys, thanks but I tried that and there was no change. Am I doing something wrong here?

 

It seems to still read the info from the tool data from the tool.

did you do it globally or locally, if you go into setting >> conotrol def and change it that way it should stick.

 

You would need to reload the machine def in the OP manager which should then load the new control def with the new change.

 

If you edit the copy by going through the OP mnager, it will not stick

I didn't do it through the operations manager.

I have tried it again, I even tried to do it to the length offset, and that also did not change it.

Could it be that it is a post brought over from V9. Yes I did use the c-hook to convert?

I have had better luck getting it to stick if I go through the Machine Def. to the Control def. After you finish Mcam will ask you if you want to apply it to your current toolpaths.

 

You could also add this:

 

tloffno$ = t$+50

 

to the General Output Settings section of your post.

I think I found the problem.

 

When you go into the operation manager, open the parameters of that tool, click the tool and THEN the diameter offset changes. I guess this is a bug. I could have changed it there right from the get-go. Or has it been fixed on service pack 1??????

Thanks Matt, I did that and it still doesn't show, could it be that it needs time to update? I remember when I put it on it took about a day to even show up.

Also, it does work when you create a NEW operation. An old (prior to making change) needs to be manually set by clicking on tool!!

 

It took a while but got it figured out.
