clamp clearing

Hi guys,

 

I have a question about tool paths and clearing clamps.

 

whats the easyest way to do it, and how?

 

Like your doing a profile and then you stop go up, over, and back down to clear the clamp.

Increase you Clearance Plane to Be higher than the clamps

 

therefore whenever the tool moves to another position there will e No Problem with Clamps

 

Question:- In Mastercam V8 can you tell the program where and how high your clamps are?

You can get real fancy with bunny hopping around clamps.

If you're doing Surface machining, you can set your clamps as check surfaces and tell the software to leave however much distance you want to stay away.

 

Toolpath editor is pretty slick. I use it all the time especially to slow the feedrate on my first pass only(which tends to be the heaviest usually) when surface machining. It takes some time to master it but once you do, it's a real valuable tool.
