invisible plunge.

I'm runing a Fanuc 16i-m controller on a VMC and having some repeating issues with unexplained plunging into my part. Can't see it in verify or find any lines in the program that show a plunge into the part. My first thought is as usual-what did I do !??

But i can't find any issues with the program and this has happened 3 times in the last month or so all using surface toolpaths. In this particular instance, it happens to be a finish parallel.

 

Any thoughts on tracing down similar problems ?

feed plane/retract or clearance... lower then top of stock?

I have had this in the past but came to find flaws in the surface geometry. In my case it did show up in verify.

The plunge takes place in the middle pocket . 5th pocket in from either side in top view.

not sure whats causing your problem, but after looking at your file I would suggest using the highspeed waterline and horizontal finishing paths for that type of part.

just my thinking anyhow
