Do you used control/machine Defs?

How many of you actually use the machine and control definition feature in X?

We have 4 different control types on 10 machines, and for us the control/machine def thing seems to be more of a pain than anything useful. In MC9 I just chose the post for the machine I was going to run the job in, post, and drop the NC file onto the CNC file server. Done. In X you can’t just change posts. And when I try to create a control/machine def it still tells me that my post needs to be converted (I thought I had converted them all) and then the next project seems to make me start allover again because it doesn’t automatically load the list of control/machine defs I thought I created. Today is the first day of a very busy season for us and I’ve gone back to using V9 because X2 is just wasting too much time.

is there something I'm missing?

You HAVE to use it.

It is how X functions

A little reading, some training and a dose of patience.

Go into the Documentation folder in your install folders there is a pdf about changing over and getting started. I would suggest you avail yourself to those.

nofalloff, if you go to files in the operation manager, then machine toolpath copy, select replace and then choose your post it should select the post that you want.it will default back to the default post when upon new files.it works for me anyway.
