Tooling question

Hey guys-

I am currently working on a part that is made out of A572 Grade 50 steel. From what I understand this material is close to A8615, so its pretty soft. What would you reccomend for endmills? I havnt used this material before, and this is a pretty high profile part in the shop right now. Its over 2.5in thick, and has large bores with +.0002/+.0018 tolerances. Lots of roughing out pockets, so it has to be able to handle ramping and helical terp. Thanks for your opinions guys!

Call your tool supplier and get a local factory rep in to test some tools for ya!

1. If it dosen't work well you don't buy it and then just test another tool from another MFG'er till you find the right fit.

2. If it blows up you don't buy it.

3. If it works your golden.

Yeah I have been trying to talk with our tool crib rep, he hasnt been to forthcoming with the information. So alot of this research I have had to do myself. This has been an ongoing problem with them and we are getting pretty frustrated with it. Thanks for your input guys. I have always had alot of success with the Hanita Varimills, and will probably go with that.
