joining surface to cut solid

I did a search and did not find what I was looking for. I have a solid I need to cut with surfaces. However I had multiple surfaces and turned then into a sheet solid. Can't you trim a solid with a solid sheet?

Yes you can. That is the correct procedure to trim a solid with multiple surfaces. Your sheet body must pass completly through the solid body you're trying to trim or it won't work. Also, make sure you don't have any holes where your surfaces meet each other.

 

If you send me the file, I'll give it a shot. You'll have to send it as V9 or X, we don't have X2 yet.

Neil, Do I use the solid trim function? I do have the solid extended well beyond the boundry. But when I click on the "surface to cut" it does not reconize the solid sheet as a surface.

Yes, use the solid trim function, when it asks you what to use to trim make sure you're selecting SHEET.
