TOOLPATH MANAGER/MACHINE GROUP

I drew/designed part# "xyz" with no toolpaths in the file. If I re-open this file when I first boot up Mastercam, it shows no machine group.

However, if I open a different file first (lathe or mill) which does contain a machine group and then open my "xyz" file, my "xyz" file DOES have a machine group (lathe or mill depending on the last opened file). I'm guessing that this is a bug of some kind. Has anyone encountered this before? Is this a bug which needs to be reported to CNC Software?

Its always been like that since the release of X. If you fire up mcam and just draw something you are only in the 'Design' module of mcam. If you open a file with toolpaths you are in that module of mcam (whether its lathe, mill, wire, etc.) you will still be in that module. So it will give you your default machine since you are still in that module.

If you look in the config settings under the start and exit option. You'll see a drop down

menu under start up product. Ther you can select mill or design.
