hasp not found

Hi all,

I have Mastercam 8.1 that I am trying to move to a new laptop computer. I have the old style parallel port hasp. The new laptop does not have that port, so I got a USB to parallel converter. But I don't think Mastercam knows to look through the USBs to find the hasp. Is there a way to set it so it looks for it there??

What is the solution??

It is the xp driver for v8. (Your new laptop has xp?, and not vista.)

You need to go to mastercam.comsupportdownloadsmisc and download drivers_x.zip, extract the files and run the drivers.bat to load the new hasp drivers. It will run 2 dos programs to load the drivers and you should then be able to find the hasp and run V8.1

Thanks for the quick advice. I tried both of these and still nothing.

I tried running the testhasp9.exe and it cant find the hasp.

 

It's diagnosis is :

- The HASP is not attached to the parallel port, OR

- Bad HASP, OR

- It's the wrong kind of HASP (NetHASP or M4), OR

- It isn't a CNC HASP. Label should say CNC Software or CBTAY

 

Is there a way to select where it should look for the hasp?

Someone up above suggested loading Drivers_X. This is for Version 8. Go to tthe Mastercam supportdownloadsmisc and grab the drivers.zip file. It is for V9 and prior.

 

That should get you up and going.

maybe you should switch to a HASP

Check your parallel port to USB converter. My experience of those is pretty bad, ie: I've yet to see one work with a hasp.

 

The ones that do work, are PCMCIA to Parallel cards.
