Create Curve Slice problem

I recently installed X2 MR2 on my system. I am trying to create a slice curve on a solid body, but for some reason I am not getting a result. Has anyone else had this problem?

did u tried using Xform > project > surface option and choose the solid face

I have a cylindrical solid with some round o-ring groves on the ID. I am trying to analyze the depths and widths of the grooves.

 

I couldn't get Xform > project > surface option to give me the profile of the grooves.

create > curve > one edge & select the edges of the grooves or use > all edges option & select the groove faces in the solid.

 

whether it is imported solid or mastercam made.

Works fine here, just a thought, after selecting your plane then solid are you hittin enter twice?

 

I have noticed since MR2 create slice is way worse when there are say 600 or more surfaces, mouse goes crazy and very slow to select.

Okay, now I feel like an idiot. I was clicking the okay check box and not hitting the enter key after my selection. Works fine for me now.

 

create > curve > one edge worked also if I trimmed the solid to the plane and selected the face then deleted the trim feature. Glad I don't have to go through all those steps each time though.

I cannot get this function to work at all on a solid. Will try tomorrow with mr2.

Tried to get this to work today with mr2, but it will not let me slice a solid only a surface. My workaround was create surfaces from solids, the curve slice then delete all surfaces. Or trim solid to plane keeping both parts, select the half solid hide the other, then create curves on solids using the new exposed face..
