version 7 files

Is anybody having problems opening a Mcam7 file in V9. When I open the V7 file to the operations page all of the toolpaths are dirty and there is no geometry associated to the operation.

I dont have a solution,but could it be because v7 wasnt associative?We got garbage when we tried to open 7.2 files in 8.1.Just curious.

Are you using File/Converters/MC*?

 

That's how I bring in MC7 MCV8.1.1

There shouldn't be any problems with doing a File-Get and calling in a V7 file with V9. The only time toolpaths would be lost is going the other way, or if they are surface toolpaths. Surface toolpaths in V7 were not associative. They became associative in V8. I brought in a sample surface file from V7 into V9 and didn't have any geometry associated with the toolpath operation. I had to re-select the geometry to regenerate the operation. HTH

I e-mailed support and they said to go from V7 to V8 and then to V9 and we tried that and seams to work good the toolpaths are all regenerated, just a couple extra steps.
