engraving headaches

I run into this periodically. Like today.

Yes I've projected all to the same plane, and run combine views. You have to click through this error for each chain. So if your engraving 100 letters you've got 100 clicks. You can also hold enter, but that I've found can lock up engraving altogether. Go into task manager close Estamp and free it up.

Also engraving doesn't like absolute depths. Remachining engraving also is spotty.

I've struggled with engraving for years. It needs help.

TT Font macro bug...I feel your pain...I think those are endpoint calculation errors....

Don't engrave that much anymore but used to run into that all the time...

I think what I use to do in 9 was to take the font and copy them down and make ruled surfs or draft 0, and intersect the drive surs with them and create a new geometry.....it was faster than fixing all the errors...

The more complex the font, the worse the results; ie more loops and crossing lines. One method that sorta works: use any old paint program to write your line of text with desired font, in black, with white background, then save as high-quality jpeg. Mastercam's Rast2Vect can convert this to an outline - and its much cleaner than "Create Letters" method.

I'd rather Mastercam cleaned up the create letters function.
