Does this really matter?

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While I have no problems with my Geforce 8800GTS this forum is littered with threads of people having issues who saved a few dollars on their video cards and then could not get the performance they thought they should.

Invest in the card they recommend, if you choose not to, remember it's a choice you made.

The Mastercam recomende laptop on the dell website lists an quadro fx 360m. does anyone have any input on this card? I am running the quadro fx 570 on my machine at work. I seem to have issues after doing a turbo verify when i scroll in and out it is choppy and takes forever,i have 2 gig of ram pentium 4ht gateway. I have a geforce 6200 with 1 gig of ram and a pentium 4 sony vaio at home and i seem to have no issues at all??? i know the quadro was way more expensive than the 6200, so i am stumped

I'm running a Toshiba Satellite P105 Intel Core2 CPU 2.0GB RAM with an Nvidia GeoForce Go 7900GS 256MB with no problems. I have partitioned the 200GB hard drive with Solidworks '08 on the Vista side and Mastercam, Griffo Bros GeoSolid and Solidworks '08 on the XPPro side. I can keep several sessions of Mastercam and Solidworks up without a glitch. I got my machine from newegg.com a few months ago for less than a couple thousand bucks. good luck shopping

Robert,

I believe the system recommendation is a 128 MB graphics card. You can attain that using an inexpensive Nvidia card. I'd double it and go with the 256 8400 (i think thats the model). You'll get good performance, and just fine. If you have the money i'd go with the laptop suggested by CNC Software seeing they test these and can probably fully support what you have setup. Personally i use a Core 2 duo machine with a 2.16 ghz processor, 2 gigs of ram, and an Intel GMA graphics card which is an integrated card and you can allocate as much memory as you want to it. Its the cheapest card you can get usually but i find it to work just fine for my needs. But i highly suggest going nvidia.

Monty, thank you for the input. I have heard a broad spectrum so far,i have the quadro fx at work and a g force 6200 that cost me 75 dollars at home and i get more out of the lesser card. go figure. maybe it a man thing you know we always want the best. i am running router pro with arts and solids, maybe the others are designing things for space stations,i dont know but i am glad for all the help this forum brings cheers.gifbiggrin.gif
