Step Downs

I have mastercam ver. 8.1 and I would like to know how to do a step down. I am trying to make a 1 inch hole with a milling machine and I would like to increase the depth slowly aka stepping down. Does anyone know how to do this in mastercam ver 8.1. I created the toolpath by using a pocket, chain.

Thanks

Mark

Snowmaker, I use Toolpath, Surface, Rough, Pocket alot for this and it works realy good, it has a helical lead in so you can use a non-center cutting endmill and you won't have to rough a hole out first, like I used to do before I found this.

On the Pocketing Parameters page, at the bottom there's a box greyed out called depth cuts.If you click that box on you can access the depth cuts menu and set it there. Use the maximum rough step, that will be your stepdown. Play around with the others to se what they do.HTH cool.gif
