Rotary axis help needed for fagor8055.

I don't think there are M codes that control the axis direction on a xxxxor control. We've got a machine with an 8070 controller, and none of the manuals list an M code that would control the axis direction.

In the machine parameters, there are some functions to control the positive/negative rotation direction.

In the Kinematics table, look for parameters DATA10 and DATA11.

DATA10 controls the turning direction of the main rotary axis, DATA11 controls the secondary axis turning direction.

Possible values: 0 or 1, 0 is the default.

Send me an email, and I can send you copies of all the xxxxor manuals for the 8070, in PDF form.

Thanks,

Thanks Colin,

I have figured out that by changing sign for A (+) or (-) I can go CW and CCW or on that machine A90. and A-90. is same except for direction. For A90 rotary will travel ccw 90deg or for A-90 rotary will travel 270deg cw and will still end up at absolute 90deg.

Next question is how can I fix this in post.

Kindest regards

MOnty what are you trying to do? You description in your last posting is confusing at best.

you should not get ANY output out of CTOL

What post are you using?

Hi John,

I am trying 4th axis on Bemato milling machine with xxxxor 8055 control and tanshing rotary axis.

We use this machine to make prototype out of foam or machinable polyurethane.

On this limit for 4th axis is between -359.999 and 359.999.

There is no M code for cw or ccw, and direction of rotation comes from Sign, eg; A90 and A-90 on the machine are same point except axis will go cw to A90 or ccw to A90 if sign is A-.

I have modified a post that is doing my job to some extent.

I created a Helix on x axis and did a 3d contour toolpath.

Output is something like this (first few lines)

N260G1Z30.F600.

N270X.064Z29.989A1.907F2000.

N280X.115Z29.984A3.454

N290X.167Z30.A5.

N300X.236Z29.981A7.077

N310X.305Z30.001A9.154

N320X.333Z30.A10.

N330X.41Z29.976A12.289

N340X.486Z30.A14.576

N350X.5A15.

N360X.577Z29.975A17.316

N370X.654Z30.A19.634

N380X.667A20.

N390X.745Z29.975A22.343

N400X.823Z30.A24.688

N410X.833A25.

N420X.911Z29.975A27.336

N430X.989Z30.A29.674

N440X1.A30.

N450X1.078Z29.975A32.339

N460X1.156Z30.A34.677

N470X1.167A35.

N480X1.245Z29.975A37.339

It works fine except I have a odd A360.

If I mirror the spiral on Xaxis and post again.

output is like this.

N260G1Z30.F600.

N270X.064Z29.989A358.093F2000.

N280X.115Z29.984A356.546

N290X.167Z30.A355.

N300X.236Z29.981A352.923

N310X.305Z30.001A350.846

N320X.333Z30.A350.

N330X.41Z29.976A347.711

N340X.486Z30.A345.424

N350X.5A345.

N360X.577Z29.975A342.684

N370X.654Z30.A340.366

N380X.667A340.

N390X.745Z29.975A337.657

N400X.823Z30.A335.312

In this for every 2deg in nc code rotary tries to go 362 deg.

This code works fine if I replace all A with A- and replace odd 360 with 359.999.

How can I limit 4th axis between -359.999 and 359.999.

How can I get A- for cw rotation.

How does ctol in post works as our mastercam reseller told me we get some weird output with ctol 360 although I am getting it right.

Our reseller has forwarded my post to inhouse solutions for modification and I am waiting for reply as he is not sure how long it will take I am trying to modify a little myself to get out of trouble.

The post I am modifying is a generic fanuc post. and is been used since mill9. It is been fine tuned for xxxxor except for rotary.

Actual inhouse xxxxor post given by reseller does not work for me at all. I am not sure which post has been forwarded to inhouse solutions as reseller has both of my posts.

Kindest regards
