Im just starting out with threadmilling and my question is. I figured out how to do it, but how can you make it do it in one pass and not helix down? Im just doing plastic so I can do it in a full pass and all I can figure out how to do is helix down the boss. Im using V9 and thanks for the help in advance.

yeah your right lol. Then my next question is I have a boss that is .625 tall with a .05 thread pitch and it helix down .05 at a time. Is there a way to say go down the boss .575 one thread pitch away and make just one pass and helix down the one pitch? This would sure shorten the cycle time up.

Try telling the toolpath the cutter has more Active Teeth (top, second tab on the toolpath). If it has more active it will cut down the amount of over steps it does.

On nearly all my thread I do I use Seco threadmills and 1 pass them (in 4130 ann). The inserts are 1.5" long and usually enough to do it in one shot so I tell MC that is has 15 teeth and it only outputs 1 go around.

And just for thought, you should consider milling your thread from bottom to top. Just thru exp. it seems to work out better. =]

Thank you all the help. I finally got it. I took care of it in the active teeth setting. By lying about how many teeth there were and it did it in one pass with one pitch helix down. Does mc10 thread milling work better than mc9, or should I say a little more friendly? Again thanks all for the help.
