Hurco Mouse problem

We have a Hurco vmx42 and the Mouse ball on the machine is giving us problems.

The curser won't move when you spin the ball.

Anyone had this problem with any of your Hurco's or any other machines that have a mouse ball???

Any tips on how to clean????

Thanks

Hurco wants.........$$$ for a new one

We found a company who rebuilds for 1/3 of that. we just got the new one in.

We took the old apart and cleaned, but didn't help.

The company we found said they couldn't fix the old one after we sent it to them.

So now we have one of their replacement ones, you have to move it slower with your fingers to get it to work right........but that is better than only being able to move only one direction only.

We have had several of these with the same problem. What happens is inside there are some foam padded rollers that the ball rolls on. These foam rollers wear over time to the point that the ball does not make good contact with them. Our service guy repaired one for us a while back by cutting up some foam that he had and replacing them. It wasn't as pretty as the original foam, but it worked. You might open yours up and see if you can find some foam that might work.
