Imported NCI files from GE3

I have some old ge3 files that I have opened with MCAM 9 and imported the nci files and saved them.

Now, when I open them with X2, there is nothing there to modify....the folders just have "Imported NCI" and there are no options to change your toolpaths.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Let me correct myself. They dont say "Imported NCI"....the folders say "Merged NCI" and all you can do with them is verify or backplot and I need to change tools and drill depth's etc.

Can any of you old MCAM 7 guru's help me out?

they are no good you have to do them over they were not associated toolpaths and you cannot change anything

An NCI file is just a centerline toolpath file more or less. It doesn't contain anything but the data necessary for the post to output your g-code.

 

When you import it back in there is no way Mastercam can know what kind of toolpath it was, what the parameters were set at, what the tool selection and definition was, etc.

Okay, thanx. Thats what I needed to know, whether or not to start over and dont even mess with the old stuff. I got alot of work ahead of me!!!

i find with most old stuff that it's better to start over as you attack a project with new idea's and toolpath's.

In V9 is the "EditNCI" chook still there???
