v9 you can go into Solids menu and use Find Feature to build a history of holes and fillets.

Yes, but it's not 100% It depends mostly on the quality of the model.

As was stated earlier, currently there is no converter than will retain the Solid's history tree.

Charles,

Yes there is a business reason. It goes along with the "Mine is better than yours". That is the reason that CATIA and Pro/E have theor own Solids Engine.

Also, STEP is supposed "step" up to the plate and offer true interoperability between systems. We'll see. So was IGES...

BTW , what's the best bidirectional translator between Pro/E,Catia and Parasolid?

We need to buy a translator in near future.

Although it's not bi-directional, but can we use mc's (v9) pro/e translator to convert complex parts from pro/e to mc?

We've been told about CIMSOFTEK and CADFIX. Has anyone used their products?

Also I think a VX Vision translator to parasolid is necessary. What do you recommend?

Thanks in advance , Sorry for long post.

I'm not sure how transferring the history tree would hurt the CAD company. (If anything, it would remove obstacles to the sale.)

People would still buy whatever CAD met their performance/ease of use/price/etc goals.

It seems everyone understands that "open" systems are good for the customer; good for our industry. Dumping out a dumb solid is not open, it's half open.
