Geo creation differences between mill and lathe.

I'm setting up an X3 lathe seat for my coworker here and I notice some differences in geometry creation between a mill and a lathe. Since I'm a mill guy I might be doing something wrong here so bear with me for a sec

-create a point:

---in mill click a point, type xy coordinates, enter, type xy, enter, and so on ...

---in lathe click point, hit space bar (wth???), type xy, enter, space bar (wth???), xy, enter, and so on ...

 

Why the space bar in lathe ???

 

The exact same problem in multiline creation.

In mill simply click line-multi and type away xy coordinates followed by enter, when in lathe I need to hit a space bar everytime.

 

Simple tasks like those can't possibly work differently between mill and lathe, so what am I doing wrong???

never mind, it's default to fast point mode...

Right click - choose auto cursor

 

Make sure that default to fast point mode is checked in the lathe seat.

There is ond big difference between the two.

 

Mills use XY coordinates and most lathes want D+,Z (which is for diameter and Z axis) or X+,Z (X is input as a radius)

 

Check on what the machine is going to want.

In my system for lathe, I can use x,y or D,Z in CAD and the post outputs what the lathe needs.
