Creating a solid with intersecting holes

I have two holes that meet each other in a part. They are ata 90 degree angle from one another. I made one hole in the solid and then made the other and tried to make it hit the other and it gave me a boolean error. How do I accomplish this the right way?

 

As you can tell I am not that experienced with solids and booleans so take it slow please.

Are they equal in dia? Intersecting on c/l or not?

I was trying to use the "extend by speicified distance" and it did not like that. "Extend to point" seems to work though.
