I want to purchase a notebook computer that can handle mastercam software (currently using V8). It will be needed for die design and surfacing work. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

take a look to the Dell M40/M50 - good power for construction. We use actual 2 Dell Latitude, but the M40 has more power.

 

I found no other Notebook with a GForce card with more than 32 MB Ram, just Dell.

I agree. I had two dell laptops (5000 and 3800) at my previous job and they worked fine with mastercam and UG.

I am running flawlessly on a Dell Inspiron w/ GeForce card and WinXP.

just curious

 

how much of a pain in the be-hind is the Hasp when using a laptop ???

 

seems to me that you could damage or lose it if you do real "mobile" CNC programing

 

Sometimes it would be nice to be able to program while out and about (for those rush jobs).....

 

just thinking out loud..
