Coolant

Hello all,

I started useing the X3 but I got problem setting the coolant on. I set it all in Op default but it doen't work. Is there anywhere else I need to do? THanks

Go to Machine definition manager then select edit general machine parameters.You should then see a tab for coolant commands. Then select what you want

Go to the Machine Group Properties and select the Tool Setting tab. It could be possible that you have "Use tools step, peck, coolant" selected and you have the coolant off on the tool. You can leave this selected and select the appropriate coolant on your tool and you should be good to go.

 

If you are still having an issue, post the code out with a supplied post and then check

If you are setting your default ops to default coolant on in a new X3 install and it is not sticking make sure you have full admin read/right control over the Mcam folder on the c:drive. If you don't a lot of other things are going to give you problems as well.

I try all of the above and it's not sticking.

I have to set the coolant all each time.

Any new suggestions? Thanks guys.

So just to make sure we understand the issue.

Are you using old style coolant or new?

Hi Mike,

I don't understand what you mean? I'm using on the Haas CNC. When I go to general machine parameter, If I turn on the coolant so the post will read,it doesn't stick in my operation. If I turn on the other, it also turn on in my operation but it doesn't post out.

I'm turn on each time now but I guess one way is

to build tool lib. and turn on in the tool list.

So if you have the coolant on in the operation as shown below, it won't post? If yes, try a different machine/post. You must figure out this issue first.

In your general machine parameters, under coolant commands, check the box (Support coolant using coolant value in post processor). Hope this helps

Very nice tutorial. Makes you wonder though. Wouldn't it be much easier for everyone, including resellers and Mastercam, if they just left the f-ing coolant turned on? I've seen this topic brought up so many times that it could be made into a sub forum.

I worked for a reseller and this was the most common question I was asked. Why does it have to be so complicated? It's just coolant...

Great tutor Degmc but dummy me.

I got stuck in the last step, I can not change the Mill_inch.mcx back to the defaults file. I rename it to Mill_inch.DEFAULTS but files type still in MCX. When I open the mastercam, it cannot find the files. How do I do it now? Thanks

You may have renamed it wrong. The filename should be identical to what it was in the beginning.

Open a folder >> go to Tools >> Folder Options View Tab, find the Hide extensions for known files types and make sure it is unchecked.

 

 

Then make sure your name is not

 

Mill_inch.defaults.mcx

Turn your coolant on in the toolpath, right click, choose save parameters to defaults file. You will have to do this for each different type of toopath that you use.
