solidworks 2009 file not opening revisited

Running X3MU1 I am having the similar problem Concept tooling was having in a previous post "Solidworks 2009"

Error message:

"cannot find parasolid data in solidworks file".

 

John P said in that post MU1 should work. But It still doesn't. Help please???

Can you open ANY SolidWorks files with X3 Mu1?

Are you opening a SLDPRT or a SLDASM?

What O/S are you using?

Have you tried re-registering X3 MU1's SWDocumentMgr.DLL (in the CommonSWorksData subfolder of your X3 Mu1 install)?

Do you know that there are Solids in the file?

If you want you can email me the file(s).

Trying to open both SLDPRT and SLDASM. or either

I will try to re-register the .dll (How)?

Don't know if there are Solids in file.just have a CD with about 30 parts and asmblys.

I will send you a file and see if you have the same problem. It is just a screw so I can't get in trouble for that.

In the control panel (or Mastercam control applet)...goto "components"... then C:McamX3commonsworksdatSwDocumentMgr.dll.. right mouse click ...select register component... you may have to unregister then register

I was unable to find "components" in control panel.

Used Mastercam X utility, tried to un-reg then register, bottom of window stated -ole. initialize failed -both times

 

Using Vista

 

I also get the not a valid win32 app warning

Thanks for the help, my reseller showed me where the control panel applet is. Since I have a shortcut on desktop I dont go to Start/All Programs very often. Now a lot of other threads make some sense.
