Problem with acad ellipse

Hello

My customer is drawing two ellipse's in autocad, an outside and an inside, then he cuts out a section of the ellipse and closes the ends. Then opens the part in X3.

here is what I dont understand the ellipse both of them have reclosed themselves creating a full ellipse, I can see the two lines from where it was closed in acad.

Any ideas would be appreciated

Perhaps ACAD is only hiding the entities?

I have trouble with SolidWorks ellipses too. I just redraw them in MC.

It sounds like a bug (and it is...it's been logged here as #50390)

I found the problem and its been fixed for X4.

For some reason the angles defining the ends of the ellipses where coming in as all greater than 360 degrees ... for instance, start angle = 528, end angle = 631. We weren't handling that case.

I'm seeing something like this in X4 MU2. I import a SW part with eliptical entities some of which end up with overlapping start/finish points. Do I have some settings to correct?

In Autocad, use command pellipse, and fill 1.

This mean the ellipse made from few arc.

A little off subject here. But we opened up a parasolid made in Catia once and noticed when edge curves were applied to some round features, simple holes with a fillet around the edges, it created splines instead of arcs. Any one seen this?

It is not uncommon to find many splines (as well as arcs)when edge curves are applied. If your hole is tapered or the fillet blends the hole to a face that is not perpendicular to the hole, a spline will result.
