I have a small slot that is cut on a 1.50 radius.

The slot is .34 wide and .86 long and I am using a

.25 carbide rougher with a pocket toolpath.When I

edit the nci to include cutter comp it puts the comp in front of a G3 line which the machine will not allow. Can I alter the post to avoid this?I am using 7.2 and unfortunately, no chance of updating. thanks

I am afraid you will have to edit your toolpath in Mastercam, IIRC the Acramatic control does not support changing the cutter compensation during arc moves. You might also want to contact your Mastercam dealer, they may be willing to edit your post processor, so you receive a warning if you try to change the cutter compensation during an arc move.

Is there any control that allows you to turn comp on in an arc move?

Thom; is there any way to add a straight "lead in" move to your path, this should eliminate your problem I think

I have like 13 machine with the Acramatic control and you have to make sure you have a lead in line when using cutter comp. This eliminates the problem of alarms.

Always assume you need a LINEAR move to activate/de-active comp. in the machine.

On some machines that move must also be a G01 mode move.

I've only ever seen one machine/control that SUCCESFULLY activated comp. on an arc move.

I've had people tell me that their machine would, but many time it was just that the machine was not complaining about it - NOT that it was actually comping properly!
