Table resurfacing???

I just purchased a Fadal 4020 HT. The machine is in good condition except the table is worn. Is there any way to resurface the table while it is on the machine? If I can't find a resonable solution, I think, I am just going to mount an aluminum sub plate to it.

Put an aluminum sub plate on it and cut it.

 

Then when it gets work again you can just recut it.

That's what I'm thinking... I was thinking about doing it in 12" wide sections, so the plates would be easier to manage.

Spend just a bit more and have a weldment made up (Steel) with internal braces that match the bolt hole spread of your vises, and rise it above the table about 4 inches. Make sure the head is square and then mill it on the table. You'll then be able to make bolt patterns and key slots that match your favorite accessories. You'll also be able to put it on other machines when you retire the Fadal. If possible, tap holes along the perimeter in the horizontal to give even more options for bolting on accessories such as stop blocks and pushers.

I used to just get 1" a36 plates cut, stress relieved, and ground. make it as big as reasonably possible, more room to clamp weird/big parts too. Bolt right to the table. i like steel subplates. I like them right on the table, reduce harmonics of something spaced off. tap and threadmill the thing however you want. Use a magnetic drill for the holes your table travel cant reach.
