set up for 3 axis or 4 axis

Hi ,

If machine Haas with portable rotary which is using from time to time ,what post to use when running machine as 3 axis . Who has same set up ? Are you using different “. mmd’s” for 3 and 4 axis?

I use the same one usually. When I have a NON rotary machine, I'll turn the rotary off in the MD. Just a couple of mouse clicks.

Is a copy of the MD saved with each file? So each time you open that file the 4th axis won't be checked?

just use the mpmaster from this site. if you dont program for the 4th, then you will not get the output.

I agree with Trevor, mpmaster works great for 3 or 4th axis work and no MD changes needed.

I have 2 seperate MD's set up. Actually 3. One for 3x, one for 4 (same post) and then a 5 ax. setup. It's slick. Either way will work. I like the seperate MD's though persoally.

To make it simple for several programmers I setup different MD's for 3X and 4X same post just one with 4th support and one not. then a different one built off the MP master for the Horz for the Haas and another MD for the Mori Sekis. Makes it simple for the guys and gales to program.

We use the same post and MD for all our Haas machines in 3 or 4 axis that was modified mostly by Trevor. Two of our Haas machines are 5 ax capable and we use the MP 5ax trunion post with out much change when making 5ax parts.
