I'm currious how people control their programs once they are proved out? Do you lock the operators out of the control all together, or do you allow operators to make changes and upload back to the DNC?

Operator's here can make changes and upload programs, but they go to an upload directory. At that point, changes can be reviewed. If changes are appropriate, Mastercam file is updated and reposted.

Here at Bowtech operators make note of any changes made and document them on the set-up sheet mostly speed and feed or peck amount.

That info is forwarded to programming where the Mcam file is updated and can be reposted.

 

The other method is to upload the program from the machine and note at the top that this is a proven program. The one drawback to this method is the program becomes machine specific.

 

The advantage of the first method is with the updated Mcam file can be reposted for any machine.
