Force Tool Change & depth cuts

Recommended Posts

Using V9 sp1 and I do alot of milling half the part and force tool change and move clamps and mill the other half. The problem is if depth cuts or multi pass rough is turned on after each depth it forces a tool change not good. Is this a bug? Is there a fix? This is a very important part of everyday life at my job.

I's not a bug but an unexpected result. I personally would like them to change how that feature acts. I would like it to act that same way you would. Only change the tool at the operation NOT at a depth/multi-pass.

I had that problem when I switched from V8 to V9. What I was instructed to do was NOT use the force tool change switch in the change NCI parameter. Instead change mi10 to 1 only. This will put an M0 after the op, with no T word M6 following (if the same tool is in the spindle). I had to chuck my V8 posts and customize the mpmaster post for V9 to get it to work. The start up information is in the program afterward, and it works well. I like it better this way.
