Drafting

I am making some dimensions. I would like to add text onto a multiple of the dimensions. I don't want to have to add the text on each dimension separately. Is there an easy way to do this? Thanks in advance

If you check 'multiple notes' in 'Creat-Drafting-Notes' you can place the same note in as many places as you want.

I don't think there will be an easy way. You could try*** Globals --settings-- +/-

Then in Multi edit/toleracing text-- You could cut and paste in your note as a tolerance . This way it will place your note in the right place on the screen.

I don't really want to place separate notes, I would like to have the note attached tot he dimension so if I have to move the dimension, the note will move with it.

Scott your Idea only work with one edit at a time.

When your creating your dimensions click the edit text to yes and create your dimensions and then click on the dimension and you can paste the text you want in after the dimension. It isn't comepletly automated but should work.

Roger that is what I got but he wants to be able to have it there or do a blanket by what I can tell.

 

Like be able to change the hight of all dam at one time.

Well, he could use a single note with multiple leaders, not exactly what he wants but the end meaning is the same.

I guess I can't read very well. I beleive there was a chook that would allow him to do just as he asked but I not sure what the name was for sure or if it is still avail. Easy dim??? Maybe???

Roger, you're probably thinking of Autodim which was an automatic ordinate dimensioning c-hook. It is now in create-drafting-dimension-ordinate-window.

I remember that one, which worked well, but this one also had wireframe of shcs and such in it also. Somebody has to know what I am thinking of I think it was avail in V7, or maybe V8.

The multi edit doesn't offer any new options, it only let's us change our minds of what options we choose .

Again this is only what I do, if a rash develops discontinue use::

Globals --settings-- change (((none)))to((( +/-)))

The +/- will be next to all the dimensions that you want your common note to be on.

 

Then in Multi edit/toleracing text-- You could cut and paste in your note where the tolerance was.This way it will place your note in the right place on the screen.

Scott have you tried this and you are saying to make this change in the globles were you would set the + or - value and type in another thought instead of say -+.005?

Hi Jay,, This works for my shop skeches.

While in globles;; I am saying just turn on the plus -minus( don't use none). Globles will not let me type in a word inplace of +/-. But after I make all the demesions that need my note on,Multi edit will let me paste over the tolerance,still one at a time, but it's just what I have found to work the best.

I think I tried that before when calling out hole diameters to show the tap size and it prompts you that the value must be between 0 and some number.

Ok this is what I have been doing,

heres an idea; make a note off to the side somewhere; translate copy it and then modify drag each copy to the spot you choose.

let me clarify my previous post: that is, offset your text, copy as many steps as you need, then you can easily drag and drop your text exactly where you need
