Hello there

the thing is that i have lost a mc8 file

but i have the nci file for this file

i would like to change my nci to .mc8 again

to improve the program file

 

i hope somebody will help me with that

Hummm

I think the only thing you can do is: operation manager >>right-click >>Toolpath >>Import NCI.

And use Autosave...

Only an Idea.

 

Import NCI into a blank file, backplot and save as geometry, this will allow you to use the tool paths to create new geometry.

 

The second Idea is to use verify on the NCI and then save the result as an stl??

 

Only Ideas and I have not tried this...

I have had to do this and it worked ok...You have to offset the toolpaths by the cutter rad of course, But I got the info I needed.

 

Sometimes I think I need one of those popup windows that says "Are you REALLY sure you don't want to save this file!!!"

Pro/E uses a file name modifier to keep this problem from hapening - each save increments the extension name by one. IE - Partsave.prt.1 - Partsave.prt.2 etc... Lets ask for this in V10!

i dont think thatis such a great idea, just because of the fact that you'll get a bunch of files of the same part. I hate that in pro/e.

 

If they decide to do something like that then there should be some sorta , "purge all previous files" option or something.

In SolidWorks you can specify how many backups you would like to have.

I use the autobackup with a filename c:mastrestorebackup.mc9 every 10 minutes

and I do increment saving like part1 part1_1 and so on in the complete programs cause it is a pity that we have only one undo and no history !
