Thanks for clearing that up sir smile.gif

So what is the work around , if any ?

And while were on this subject.

the Mastercam Version 8 Mill/Design Applications guide, On page 158 to 159 staring at step #2 the instuctions reads.

Main menu/toolpaths/nextmenu/Circ tlphs/Auto drill/.

Step #3

Save the NCI file as autodrill.nci "

Now at this point there NO menu selection choice to select a Nci file name to save.So i cant move on to Step #3.

The on line help makes no mention of saving a Nci file name during the Autodrilling Selection process.

So i ask Whats up with this ??

My point is this. which one is right? The book or on line help. This was my first attempt at autodrill & I chose that Manual as a start. I wasted a lot of time playing around with that.Figuring that Im missing a step somewere. I even created a NCI manualy first then tryed autodrill. Then i bounce all over the on help file looking . So i ask.

Must I have a saved NCI or not!

I guess you could name it anything you want or just use the default name. Does a later example in the Apps Guide use this NCI file for something? Maybe that's why the Guide suggests a name. Anyway, just use the "Change NCI..." button on the "Tool parameters" dialog to set a new NCI file name.

As far as working around the AutoDrill crash, you can 1)turn off pre-drilling, or 2)leave it on and set your pre-drilling increment to something besides 0.0
