The rumor I have heard for X was fourth quarter 2003, but that’s just a rumor. The V9.1 rumor, first quarter 2003. The trouble with rumors is you shouldn’t believe them until you actually see them for yourself.

 

The only true answer like Bullines said is “When it’s done”

History tells us that Mastercam's development cycle runs between 18 months and 24 months. So, if X were to be 24 months out from the release of V9, then you're looking at Q1 of 2004. But..... X is a radical departure from past releases at the core level so if the cycle were pushed out to 25-26 months it would not surprise me in the least. I have no "inside knowledge", this is pure conjecture, no more, no less.

 

If you're saying to yourself "I'll just wait for X to update...", don't do it. You would be better served by updating to V9 and not waiting. Version 9 has a lot of great new features just in the CAD side of things alone not to mention the new CAM stuff. V9 is a very worthwhile update. So don't hold off on updating!

Version 10, a la MacOS X. 'X' being the Roman numeral equivalent of '10'.

That makes more sence now, I thought that perhaps it was a package designed to fill the single axis "X" only cam market - perfect for programming those pesky radial arm drills.

He wouldn't give me ANY information.

No matter what I asked

He would only say "It is so Cool"
