I don't know if this is actually a bug or if I'm doing something wrong, but when I import some AutoCAD LT 2000 (yuk, by the way; LT bites) files into MC V9 Lathe I seem to have strange occurrences of added entities.

For instance, I just brought a drawing in (that I drew myself) and when I did a screen fit zoom I saw entities way off of my working area that ARE NOT THERE in the ACAD file.

I'll try that again... If I zoom extents in ACAD I only see my part and chuck jaws, when I screen fit in MC there are entities shown way off to the left; has anyone else seen this?

I also have had a case where there were 2 copies of every entity on the part in MC but in ACAD there was only one.

Has this been seen by anyone else?

Thanks

C

Assuming (always a bad thing rolleyes.gif ) that AutoCad LT is fairly close to full-up AutoCad.... If you have entries in the paper space as well as in the model space - both spaces are imported into MC and show up as duplicate geometry. Often the paper space import will show up to the left and above the "real" geometry. One "work-around" has been to delete the paper space prior to bringing the AutoCad file into MC. This is inspite of the "Blank Paper Space Entities" button in the DWG/DXF Read Parameters popup (usually this works just fine - but occasionally it doesn't).

Chris,

Try this method instead.

Use wblock, this allows windowing or feature picking exactly or only what you need; Of course you will be prompted for a drawing name as well.(this must be a different dwg)

Model space is always the preferred medium, paper space is fine for basic 2d stuff, wblock will work with either. smile.gif

In my experience, I choose only to import the geometry that I need to get the job done; this method would likely suit your application best. cheers.gif

Regards, Jack
