thanks Jean for reply

In fact I'm developping a chook [Casavant Freres...]and I'm trying to do : Modify -> Break -> Draft/Line with API.

Until now, I can get the entity (type : v8_note) and I'm searching a function to convert it to Point/Line/Arc/Spline in order to built a chain

just a little tip

text from acad can only be machined (engraved) if it is lines and ars

to do this enable express tools in autocad and use the explode text feature on the text of choice

next use the regular explode feature on the text u just exploded... ie u are exploding text twice two different ways

now dxf it out making sure zero is set as the active layer

i do this several times a day and finally mastered this... remember the text is nolonger text but lines and arcs so make sure it is exactly what u want before u explode

thanks Rchoward for the tip.

I'm not an epert in AutoCAD 2002, tell me please wwhere's the "express tool" menu?

There isn't. You have the following options:

- Create an Autodesk DXB 'printer' using the plotter manger, then plot the text you want using that DXB driver. Open a new drawing and insert the Drawing Exchange Binary you just created. Save that as a .DWG file and import it into MasterCAM.

- Import the express tools from AutoCAD 2000. Autodesk support document TS59037 describes the process. TS64921 tells you about some of the stuff that may not work.

- Purchase a VIP subscription and get the current set of extentions. I believe that text explode is one of them.

- Purcahse the Express tools vol 1-9 from the Autodesk eStore website.

Personally, I'd just futz with the DXB stuff unless I had to do this all the time. Then I'd buy the express tools.
