Hasp Security

Jack and Cadcam have mentioned in a recent thread about using a USB hasp, my question is why? When I installed my first seat 3 years ago, the only time I have removed my Hasp was when I purchased a new comp or had to do some maintanence in the box. Is this a common practice for most of you, do you really remove your Hasp on a daily basis? If so why, security, the ability to program at home, make sure no-one messes whith your stuff, just wondering. The idea of removing my Hasp regularly never crossed my mind.

Hi Paul,

As you said in your post, so I can program(learn) at home on my time. Also as you said for security at my work. We sign for our laptops and our sim, so it is up to us individually to secure our hasp.

If not it could be personal liability.

I guess in a large shop you should be concerened with security, but I am the only programmer here, my seat, my comp, my office. With 15 guys in production, and a couple stuffed shirts in the front office, I have little to be concerened with.

As a Mastercam reseller, I'm always moving my SIM to different computers, either for training purposes, testing different hardware or even just traveling to potential customer sites with my laptop. I must remove my SIM at least twice a day.
