BIG 9.1 bug

I've been using V9.1 since yesterday. I just bumped into a problem though. I often "move" geometry by selecting Xform, Translate, All, Entities, to establish an origin, etc. I just did this with a solid, and I get the following message...

Cannot move entities which solids are dependant on.

Well...That's fine, but i'm moving the solid as well.

Can somebody verify this for me?

Thanks,

Paul,

That's not a bug in V9.1. Solid geometry that is created in Mastercam is dependent on 2D wireframe to sustain the design. An extruded solid shape cannot be extruded without the 2D shape that it has been extruded from, for example. When translating any solid geometry, select the wireframe geometry that's associated with the solid and the error message will not appear. This message has been around since the inclusion of the Solids module in Mcam (V7). I believe the 2D geometry is translated along with the solid if you just click on the "OK" button anyway. It's just Mcam's way of saying that you cannot translate solid geometry without the associated wireframe geo. HTH cheers.gif

Good Eve,

well I always try to re-create

I made an arc, then extruded, and created

cylinder. Screen statistics show

1 arc + 1 solid.

Then I, transformed, only, solids,

and it moved the solid, but it didnt move

the original arc. But it created another

arc ( base chain ) that it did move with

the solid, hence, Screen statistics now

show 1 solid and 2 arcs. It carried a,

or kept the base chain arc geometry

without displaying an error.

I think thats pretty cool.

I didnt get any error telling

me about associated solid geometry movement.

Make any Cents...???

Good Eve,

re-read the original thread

I made an arc, then extruded, and created

-------------------------------------------

Then I, transformed, only, arcs,

and it moved the arc ( base chain ),

it moved the arc without error,

moving it off the location of the solid.

Then, all I did , in solid manager,

was regen the solid and it moved it

back in line with the base chain.

Again,I think thats pretty cool.

I also read different threads that when

I re-create the situation it has a different

outcome...is this software/hardware related

???????????

MORE Cents...???
