Machine Def

I want to know if there is a easy way to convert a Router RMD/control/post set-up to a Mill MMD/control/post set-up. I have developed Router machine def files, control def, and post files for all of our machines but I sometimes have a customer who is running Mill. I have both router and mill on my machine here.

Mastercam X2 MR2 SP1

Router Pro & Mill Pro

All the goodies added as well.

start here travis:

[post_VERSION] #DO NOT MOVE OR ALTER THIS LINE# V11.00 E1 P1 T1121264322 M11.00 I0

this is at the top of your router post. change the P1 to P0(zero) and then rename all files accordingly.

by the way, i have a couple of questions about the post i got from you and adam. can i call you to talk about a few of the settings? i have 3 aggregates i need to set up.

Customer has milling machines an a CR Onsrud router. He wants to use Mill to program both. I am just trying to save some time and give him a mill def/cntrl/post for our router.

What would you do if you had a customer with Mastercam Router who just purchased a Hass, but wanted to use Mastercam Router to program it with instead of mill. Would it not be nice to have a mill to router converter and vice versa. I like X2 but tying the post/md/cd to the version of software sucks. I would like to be able to select a mill from router. We all know that there is very little differance between router and mill.

Travis, shoot me an email in the AM with the files and I will convert them for you (should take about 5 minutes).

As far as your question as to what would someone do with a customer that wished to run both a Mill and a Router, It would depend entirely upon the Router machine configuration. Router supports all of the Mill toolpaths and allows for support of multi-heads and block drills so it would obviously be the correct choice for a customer that wished to drive a multi-headed machine or a machine with a block drill. But, if the machine was a simple 3 or 4-axis single spindle router then there would be no reason they could not use the Mill product to drive it.
