Block drill Headache

Hello all

Anybody use block drilling in MC Router?

 

Problem: I select holes, go thru nessesary steps in the paremeters hit OK, then this "Warning:0 points defined!"

 

I don't get it...I used to use it all the time with no problems

This seemed to start when I installed X2 MR2(Coincedence or cause )

 

Any ideas??

 

This feature saves me a considerable amount of time both in programming and in machining time

 

Any help would be appreciated

Selecting the holes (circles) themselves, or the center points?

Selecting the holes...for the drilling unit to regognize Diameters

I should mention that we draw our parts in Inventor first, then import them to MCX as Solids

I program right off of the imported parts...used to edge curve everything till we got solids

Hi CNC Pro,

 

One thing to check. Go to Screen - Combine Views. Make sure all arcs are in the correct view.

do you have an HD9 file with your block drill defined?

Also the diameter of your holes must be the same diameter on the HD9 file.

I just used this yesterday on V9

I did a lot of messing around with this yesterday (for once I had a little extra time) and I think it might have something to do with the Inventor part, if I redraw all the holes it will work...just not crazy about doing this all the time.....maybe if I get X3 I won't ever have another MC problem

When you are selecting the entities, are you sure they are arcs ? Anaylze the arcs, and if they are splines that could be the problem. I am thinking that when you are creating the curves from the solids its generating a spline and not an arc.

This happens to Solidworks and other design packages, too. The reason is, even though the arcs are located on top of the part, they are not in mastercam TOP, which is View #1. Analyze your arc and see the first text box. if the view number is not 1, you will have problem. Screen - Combine views will fix this problem.

I did anaylze the arcs, they are not splines.

One more quick one if i may...is there a way to use the blockdrilling feature in solids drill?
