Art CAM for CNC router from Bmp

Hi All,

I created a routed dragon in art cam and cut it on a benchman router. I imported a BMP and traced it using The total object diameter is 18 inches. I used a 1/8 ball mill and stepped over .012. It took 24 hours to run.

I have several questions.

First what is the max you can step and with what tool to leave a reasonably smooth surface?

When the part cut it came out in three distinct levels. I was expecting two. How did I inadvertantly raise some parts to a higher level.

Did this happen from selecting the geometry twice.

All the geometry came out flat on top. Is there a way to curve the geometry toward an opposite edge to give it a taper into the next geometry. headscratch.gif

Thanks for your help in advance.
