  1. Hi Rick If you email me the file I can help you. [email protected]
  2. Hi Chris This was a bug, and the way to get around it is to change the parameter then click in to another field on that page that will stick the value, hit the green check and you will be good. This has been fixed in X3 beta-3. Good luck ive
  3. Answering the second question first, Art can give you very high detail, and would be perfect for what you are discribing. We have quite a few folk using Art for just this application, most famous being OCC. I have a few examples; the marine corps logo on a case cover, and a topograpic map of Austrailia that I did for them, I would be happy to send you pictures. As to converting Rasters to vectors, we have a good module in Art for that. But your dream of it always being easy is still not realized as it is still dependant on quality of image you have to start with. I do have some helpful hints if you want to contact me.
  4. Hi Ata I think the best thing for you would be to put up a Web page with a few of your models for sale. (Your note here is a good advertisement as well.) This would one make you searchaable for people looking for such a service, and maybe they would buy your models as well. For an example of how this would work, you could look at www.vectorart3d.com Once you have done that then people can recommend you as well. I for one would love to see some one offer this service for Mastercam Art. Good luck. ive
  5. Hi Trevor, Art is not made to truly project normal to surfaces, but it does a pretty good job if you don't wrap it too aggressively. One trick I would suggest as I look at your image is to increase you Base Height in the organic dialog, that will give definition to the edge of the fish that is fading out. Also for something like this I would maybe model it in solids and the STL out, then STL into Art and apply the detail. As you would build this in separate pieces you could create the columns as separate art base surfaces, using unwrapped rectangle, this would allow you to create normal surfaces, then you would use the wrap simulation option to show it. This would then be cut on a 4th axis. Ke Wang has some examples and knowlege in this area, give him a call. Ive
  6. Hi All As to prining you can not print the Art suface grid, but the shaded Art surface prints well. I am used X2-MR2-SP1 to do the test, but I know it works in X2-MR2 as well. Give it try and let me know if you still have problems [email protected]
  7. Hi Mike I am the product manager for Art here at CNC Software. I think I know what your problem is. I bet your resolution in the Art Manager is set to low. The icon is a purple dome, double what ever you have and the jaggies will go away. Also in the Art Base Surface dialog in the bottom left, there is a Shadding Quality control. It should be set to .001. If you still have problems email me the file. [email protected] I will be happy to look at it and fix it for you. We can also do a video conference if you would like to see the fix live. Rock On
  8. I would be happy to help you, yes you can put textures on items as well as using the organic fuction. I would be happy to work with you I am tne Art Manager. If you could email me something to work with I will see what I can do, or show you a stratagy to make it work. [email protected] Thanks ive
  9. If you would like to talk indepth about your application give me a call at 253-265-0855. I am the Mastercam Art Product Manager. And I have a lot of expierence in this and I will give you the straight scoop. These talks are always better if I have a copy of the graphic file you are going to work with. If you like you can send it to me at the address below. Email me at [email protected]
  10. Hey Crazy, I would go with Ron's solution, I have had the same problem. The trick is to fix the picture before you bring it into Art. I have had success with PaintShop Pro from Jasc.com. You can get a 30 day review and if you buy it is only $129. I believe Adobe just bought them. Contrast is the issue, you can take care of it by simply painting in highlights on the original graphic. In Mastercam, on the Grayscale Conversion Dialog, using Alternate Garyscale will up the contrast as well as checking the Maximize Contrast check box. You may also get an improved result by using Custom Color Weighing, set all the sliders to 50% then play witht the gama slider. Finally remember you could draw in detal splines, then use Art-Swept to raise and lower strands. I would like to see this project when your done. Or if you need more help, you can contact me at [email protected] ive
  11. Hey Greg I like your story, always looking for good articles, could you contact me. I wrote the article abouve for marketing and sent it to them yesterday in reply to a customers inquiry ,my how fast things fly about. [email protected]
  12. A used Pixa is the most affordable, I know a guy who wrote some software that integrated it into mastercam very nicely. He is also a production jeweler. He used a pixa to do a lot of this exact kind of work. Bob Hendricks, [email protected]
  13. Hi once again. My titile is wrong on the post, I am the product manager for Mastercam Art. So other than Karlo Apro the AE assigned to ART I don't think there is any one out there with more experience on this product. ive
  14. Hi All From what I see this would be a slam dunk in art the bears the branches and the spray at the end of the the branches would be very easily modeled in mastercam Art. You could also scan this if it was a mastercarving and import the STL into Art to toolpath it or modify it. ive
