High Speed Toolpating?

Messing around I was playing with the High Speed button in the Operations manager. Can someone explain exactly what it does. I was never shown this in school well not to much toolpathing at all. Anyway it just seemed amazing that it can cut down a 40 minute operation down to 8 minutes. Does it mess with feed rates, or is it adding canned cycles or something I am rather lost on this and none of the books I have give any real examples of this option.

I think you are refering to the High Feed Button. There is a folder in mcam9 that has a power point file that explans what it does. Basicaly it looks at material removal rates as well as what the machine is capable of (for accuracy) and adjusts code for feed rates.

Hi tazzer,

Yes Allen is right.

(Instead of using the same feed rate for the entire part, a different feed rate is computed for each tool position based on the volume of material currently being removed in conjunction with the chip load, resulting in a faster machining cycle and optimal control over the machining forces.)

I got this info from the help section.

In essence, your code will post with a lot of feed rates.

It knows where it can speed up and it knows where it has to slow down.

Kinda like on the highway, you know where you can rip it up to make time, but you have to slow down on curves or when "smokey" is present! wink.gif
