MCWhatsNew.exe startup error

Hi!

Excuse my bad English. I am using a translating program. :D

My name is Jonas and I'm from Sweden.

My operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

Mastercam X4 MU3 works perfectly, but when I tried to install the X5, I get an error

message every time I start the program.

I can just close this error message and then Mastercam works as it should, but this is very annoying.

I have tried to install the X5 on two different computers, but the same error message comes up.

Since my Windows is in Swedish so I also attached a translation of the error message.

I have also tried to start the file MCWhatsNew.exe manually in Windows explorer without

starting Mastercam, but the same error message comes up.

So, I have two questions:

1. Does anyone here know what this error is due, and have a solution?

2. If no one knows how I solve this, how do I turn off the automatic start of MCWhatsNew.exe

when I start Mastercam X5?

Thanks in advance...

Hello! The information below is from the ReadMe.htm file that is installed with Mastercam X5. I'm wondering if this is the solution to your problem.

Possible What's New Dialog Box Error

The "What's New" dialog box mechanism in X5 uses an XmlLite runtime file. Most operating systems have it installed, but some do not. If the operating system does not have the file, you will see this error:

(see the ReadMe file for the screen shot)

The XmlLite runtime file, XmlLite.dll, is integrated into the following operating systems:

  •
  • Windows Server 2008
  • Windows Vista
  • Windows XP with Service Pack 3 or later
  • Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 2 or later
  • Windows Internet Explorer 7 and later

The XmlLite.dll file is also available as a download from the XmlLite update page for the following operating systems:

  •
  • Windows Server 2003 (32 bit with Service Pack 1 or x64 Editions)
  • Windows XP (32-bit with Service Pack 2 or x64 Editions)

Please e-mail [email protected] if you're still having problems.

Thanks for the tip.

I have the file xmllite.dll in C:\Windows\System32, so I don´t miss it.

I have mailed [email protected], but they don't respond (yet).

I now have a solution to the problem. If anyone else would get the problem so the solution is as follows:

The parameter for the automatic startup of MCWhatsNew.exe is here:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER, Software, CNC Software, Mastercam X5

Change the value Whats New from 0 to 1.

If the value is missing, simply create a DWORD value named Whats New, and set the value to 1.
