OT Siemens Traori R values in macro program.

Hi all,

2 different 5 axis Chiron machines. Same Siemens control, same axis config, only difference is one is a slightly bigger machine. A program that ran good in one machine was transfered into the other machine. The machine alarms out when TRAORI is activated. The alarm is an over travel. In the system/macro for the TRAORI the machine that works has a four R values called out at the beginning. The machine that alarms has 0 for the R values. From what I can tell is that they are pivot distance from rotary head to turning spindle and maybe a rotation posiiton comp value. Anyone have any info on these values and a procedure to measure them.

TIA.

Here is the beginning of the code from the good machines system/macro for TRAORI

; Hinweis: Hier die Werte eintragen, R7 bis R10 berücksichtigen !

; Bei FZ08 ist der Abstand R4 ein negativer Wert, R6 ist positiv
; R1, R2, R3 sind negativ

; Bei Mill ist R4 ein Wert MIT Vorzeichen, R6 ist positiv
; R1, R2, R3 sind negativ

; Die Softwareendschalter (R7 bis R10) sind Werte mit Vorzeichen

R1=0   ;X1=Plananlage Backenfutter von Maschinennullpunkt
R2=0   ;Y1=Rundachse Mitte (A-Achse) von Maschinennullpunkt
R3=0   ;Z1=Rundachse Mitte (A-Achse) von Maschinennullpunkt
R4=0 ;X1=Drehpunkt Schwenkachse( bis Drehmitte Spindel
R6=0 ;Z1=Drehpunkt Schwenkachse( bis Plananlage Spindel

R7=-0.111 ;Softwareendschalter B-ACHSE MINUS ,Kopf
R8=0.111 ;Softwareendschalter B-ACHSE PLUS  ,Kopf
R9=-0.222 ;Softwareendschalter A-ACHSE MINUS ,Schwenktisch
R10=0.222 ;Softwareendschalter A-ACHSE PLUS ,Schwenktisch

; Ab hier keine Aenderungen mehr
;***************************************************************

R1=R1*INCHFACTOR
R2=R2*INCHFACTOR
R3=R3*INCHFACTOR
R4=R4*INCHFACTOR
R5=R5*INCHFACTOR
R6=R6*INCHFACTOR

Doug, I went thru that on a Huron with Traori.

There are so many values that are used to calculate traori, that their best FACTORY guy from France took over a week to laser and set.

OK, maybe it was just because he was french. :lol:

Seriously, some of these valuse included how much movement during clamp and unclamp conditions so that 5x worked as accurately as 3+2, pivot, AC offsets, etc.

I would contact Chiron.

I kind of figured I was in over my head. In addition to being the Okuma/Hardinge distributor up here in MN we are also a rep for Chiron. The problem I face is that Chiron handles all of their apps and service so when our customers need help I am often trying to find an answer to a problem on a machine that I know nothing about.

Thanks Robert.
