Surface High Speed roughing

Hi all,

in surface high speed roughing is there a setting for top of stock that

allows for the fact that you may have say 20mm or even 50mm stock to take off

first before you even get to the z zero or top of your part and then it starts to rough out?

in older versions there was a top of stock button you could tick that you could set..

Thanks

In surface high speen roughing, it starts at the top of the solid, regardless of the min/max values.

That satement is not correct. It actually does start at the min value on the steep shallow page. If you have 20 mm stock above your Z zero than enter 20. for min. Enter your max depth as a negative number. That being said it may be faster to use a face mill to hog off all that extra material.

I stand corrected. I tried a test cut, and it didn't cut the top of the part. Turns out I had the Stock to leave set too high. I would still opt for the Face mill to rip the stock down.
