Performance/Settings Question

Why is it when I start the task manager, and regenerate a toolpath the CPU usage never goes above 50%? The computer is new and I expected more than a benchmark of two minutes. It is a quad core and set up to use all cores available.

 

AMD Phenom 2 X4 processor 3.5 GHz Quad core

The IT guy had already washed his hands of this issue, but I'm not happy. Am I missing something??

Well it is a 32 bit software in a 64 bit environment. That is all you are going to see. Difference is you can do it and 20 other things at the same time and not have a problem. Soon you will see something that will make you happy just wait a little while longer.

Look Here. I was just reading something about this on the benchmark forum - threads 1330 through 1337 on page 67.

What Ron is saying is that the Mcam is a 32bit program, you're only going to push so much information, you've just got a much bigger pipe to push it through. Also Mcam is not a multithreading program, there are however toolpaths in the program that take advantage of multithreading.
