What is the easiest way to cut a part that has two sides undercut the the other 2 sides tipped in the other direction if you don't have a 5-axis machine

Matters on the undercut angle ,I use most of the time a dovetail tool.

 

This can be done with flowline,surface contour & one other now.

The ability to machine undercuts in Rough Pocket, Rough Contour, and Finish Contour has been added. Using Slot, Dove, and Lollipop mills, you can now create gouge-protected undercuts. Version 9.1 can compensate to the tool shape and protect the shank of the tool from hitting the material.

You will need to turn off the gap and retract motion gouge checking in any of the surface toolpaths. If it detects a gouge, mastercam (ironically) sends the tool straight up to the retract height. I haven't done much undercutting in 9.1 so I am not sure how the shank protection works yet.

I tried surface contour undercuts with T-mill

works nice.

I advice if it possible to turn on entry /exit arc/line it helps a lot

Huh, tell me about this "shank protection" feature. Is it only in surface paths? My co-worker was doing an undercut part a little while back (V9), using a 2" x .125" ISCAR slotting mill with a 1.25" shank, and just running a 2d contour tool path. Our "shank protection" consisted of sticking you head in the dam machine, and hopefully remembering to turn the coolant off first!
