Transform toolpath spiral

Hello,

Is it possible to transform in spiral.

Example: Drill a hole plan top and make to transform the operation in Z and with an angle and the number of hole making.

I think in something like that I would use a 5axis drill path

I have tried this in the past, but was not able to get it done....

Here is as much as I can help...

 

First create a helix which will define the path you will xform along.

then "create point segment" at whatever intervals you need for the positions of the holes. (my plan was to drop the arcs to be drilled at the points you make in this step)

draw your first hole at the 1st position.

select that geo and enter dynamic xform.

drop the gnome at the 1st position

click the 4th icon from the left (manipulate axes) on the dynamic xform ribbon bar

click on the arrowhead of one of the axes and move it along the helix (it should follow the helix)

then drop it back into the 1st positon

click the 5th icon from the left on the ribbon bar (manipulate geo)

now click the arrow head again to begin moving your geo along the helix.

 

Thats as far as I got. The axis I selected would follow the helix but the others would flip around & I couldn't figure out how to stop that from happening.

I also had trouble getting the auto cursor to snap to the points that were drawn... (it would get there, but would loose the association to the helix.)

 

Hopefully someone will chime in with some more help...

i WOULD DRAW AN AXIS of the first hole

Now on side plane I would transform rotate copy it needed number of times.

Now place them using transform translate move to the needed places

Use drill 5 axis drill using points and lines option
