gear c hook

I would like to draw a gear using the c hook in wire. Some of the values to be filled in are not known to me. Roll diameter? Have looked up the term in gear books and have not found it. Is there document that explains the terms used?

Any help would be appreciated.

Roll diameter is the diameter of the wire used to measure the gear. Go to your help index, click on Gear C-Hook, then click on gear parameters, each parameter is defined for you by clicking on it.

Roll dia is the dia of the pin nested in the gear teeth for measuring the Pitch Diameter.

 

The Roll Measurement is the measurement across the 2 roll pins. On prints this is usually given as "Measurement Over Pins".

 

The Pins are 180° appart (or as close to 180° as possible) for odd numbered teeth. The measurement for ID gears is Between Pins.

 

Be sure to hit the enter key after entering data in each field
