Disable clamp/unclamp for drilling toolpaths

Generic Fanuc 5X post question

 

I need clamping and unclamping for 3+2 positioning and milling

 

but would like to turn it off for motion between holes during drilling cycles

 

Is there an easy way to do this?

I'm thinking the call to use_clamp for drilling is in pdrlcommonb. It looks like part of drill common is in the psb file.

The folks in the post dept at CNC would need to be contacted for that.

You could do a mass edit replace in the Cimco or Mcam editor.

I'll just turn clamping off, post and manually add unclamp, clamp for the "B" axis motion

in the first line.

All the drilling is "A" motion.. so it won't be too bad

Um. No. All of the clamping/unclamping logic is exposed. You should be able to modify the lines like:

 

#Lock rotary axis

if use_clamp & (cuttype = zero | opcode$ = three | opcode$ = 16),

 

in p_goto_strt_tl, ptlchg0$ and pclamp.

 

opcode$ 3 = drilling, opcode$ 16 = 5-axis drilling. Remove those parts of the logic and clamping on drilling will not occur.

#Lock rotary axis only for toolplane rotary positioning

if use_clamp & cuttype = zero,
